Firewall Client for ISA Server 2004

Use Firewall Client Management to enable or disable the Firewall Client software, change the server from which client configuration files are downloaded, and download fresh copies of the client configuration files.
General configuration
Use the General page to enable Firewall Client software and to configure how the client detects Microsoft® Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004.
- Enable Microsoft Firewall Client for ISA Server 2004
- Specifies whether to enable the Firewall Client software and use Windows Sockets (Winsock) applications with ISA Server.
- Automatically detect ISA Server
- Specifies that the Firewall Client software will attempt to find ISA Server, using an automatic detection setting on the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) or DNS server.
The name of the ISA Server computer is displayed in Detected ISA Server.
Click Detect Now to detect the ISA Server computer and validate that it is functioning, or to detect a different server.
- Manually select ISA Server
- Specifies the name of the ISA Server computer. To validate that the server is functioning, click Test Server.
Web browser configuration
Use the Web Browser page to configure Web Proxy for the computer with Firewall Client installed. These settings apply to Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and later.
- Enable Web browser automatic configuration
- Specifies that the Web browser on the client computer will be automatically updated to use the ISA Server computer specified on the General page as its proxy server. The Web browser settings are updated with the settings specified here. If Firewall Client is not enabled, the Web browser is configured to automatically detect settings.
This applies only to LAN connection settings (and not to VPN or dial-up connections).
- Configure Now
- Configures the Web browser on the computer with Firewall Client installed to use the ISA Server computer specified on the General page.
Notes
- To restore the Firewall Client icon to the Windows taskbar, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Start Up, and then click Microsoft Firewall Client Management. Then, to open the Firewall Client configuration dialog box, double-click the Firewall Client icon.
- To uninstall Firewall Client for ISA Server 2004, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add or Remove Programs. In Currently installed programs, click Microsoft Firewall Client, and then click Remove.
- To install Firewall Client, at a command prompt, type
Path\Setup
Path is the path to the shared ISA Server client installation files on the ISA Server computer. To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators group on the client computer.
